Installation notes

Know what to expect.

These are direct GitHub release packages. They are not Store installations and they do not update automatically.

Windows

  1. Download and extract the ZIP.
  2. Confirm the filename is DriveRescueAssistant-windows-x64.zip.
  3. Open DriveRescueAssistant.exe.
  4. If SmartScreen appears, verify the source and checksum before choosing to continue.
L

Linux

  1. Extract the tar.gz archive.
  2. Mark DriveRescueAssistant as executable.
  3. Open it in your desktop environment.
  4. Report the distribution and version with any issue.
A useful controlled test

Test the workflow, not your luck.

Use an external source and a different physical storage destination where possible. Do not begin with the only copy of important data.
